Mission
The mission of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is to conserve, exhibit and interpret a living animal collection in order to promote public recreation, understanding of the relationship between animals and people, and action to sustain the environment we share.

Description
The Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is a mid-size zoo located in Syracuse, NY. The Zoo is comprised of both indoor and outdoor exhibits, and the approximate land area of the facility is 43 acres. The animal collection has over 100 different species and 800 individuals. More than 300, 000 visitors explore the zoo annually. Open year-round, the Zoo provides a unique experience with every visit.

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is one of about 225 facilities accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Accreditation is based on a facility upholding the highest standards in animal care, recreation, education and conservation. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is an active participant in AZA's Species Survival Plan program (SSP), among other wildlife conservation programs. The Zoo also partners with other institutions on research regarding animal husbandry and veterinary science. At the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, we believe in providing top quality educational and recreational experiences to our visitors in order to bring them "close enough to care" about the species we exhibit, and the natural world as a whole.
